Name Numerology Calculator: Find Your Name Number
Type a name in English letters. Every letter has a value; their total reduced to one digit is the name number. Add your date of birth to see how the name matches your Moolank and Bhagyank.
Guide
What this calculator does
Every letter carries a number. Add the values of all the letters in a name, reduce the total to one digit, and you have the name number (नामांक). The calculator shows the value under each letter, the total for each word, the compound number for the whole name and the final digit, and, if you add your date of birth, whether the name number is friendly, neutral or opposing to your Moolank and Bhagyank. Lesson 8 explains the method.
How is the name number calculated?
- Write the name in English letters. Dots, hyphens and apostrophes are removed, and accents are dropped, so É counts as E. Digits and Devanagari are rejected.
- Look up each letter in the chosen table. The Chaldean table is the default.
- Add all the values. This total is the compound number.
- Reduce the compound number to a single digit.
Worked example
RAHUL in the Chaldean system:
| R | A | H | U | L |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 1 | 5 | 6 | 3 |
2 + 1 + 5 + 6 + 3 = 17, and 1 + 7 = 8. The name number is 8, ruled by Saturn. In the Pythagorean system the same name adds up to 24, which reduces to 6.
A second example: two words and a master number
ANJALI RAO in the Chaldean system, with the date of birth 29 August 1994:
| Word | Letter values | Word total |
|---|---|---|
| ANJALI | 1, 5, 1, 1, 3, 1 | 12 → 3 |
| RAO | 2, 1, 7 | 10 → 1 |
12 + 10 = 22, and 2 + 2 = 4. The name number is 4, ruled by Rahu. Because the whole name totals exactly 22, the card adds a master-number note, and the compound panel shows 22, "the dreamer". Switch to Pythagorean and the letters total 36, which reduces to 9 with no note.
That date gives Moolank 2 and Bhagyank 6. The card shows Opposing beside Moolank 2, because row 2 of the table lists 4 as opposing, and Friendly beside Bhagyank 6, because row 6 lists 4 as friendly.
The two letter tables
| Value | Chaldean | Pythagorean |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A, I, J, Q, Y | A, J, S |
| 2 | B, K, R | B, K, T |
| 3 | C, G, L, S | C, L, U |
| 4 | D, M, T | D, M, V |
| 5 | E, H, N, X | E, N, W |
| 6 | U, V, W | F, O, X |
| 7 | O, Z | G, P, Y |
| 8 | F, P | H, Q, Z |
| 9 | none | I, R |
How to read your result
- Letter tiles. Each word with its letter values and a line such as "ANJALI = 12 → 3".
- Number and headline, then the name reading, written for this role: the impression a name gives, not your temperament.
- Master-number note, only when the whole name totals 11, 22 or 33.
- Facts. Compound number, letter system, ruling planet, keywords, lucky colours, lucky days and friendly numbers.
- Compound number panel. The Chaldean reading of the total. Totals above 52 are read by their digit sum, so a long name totalling 65 is read as 11.
- Match badges, if you gave a date of birth: Friendly, Neutral or Opposing, each read from your birth number's row.
- Strengths and Watch for, and a link to the number's full page, such as number 4.
- How it was calculated: every letter value and the reduction.
Common mistakes
- Comparing across systems. A Chaldean 8 and a Pythagorean 6 for the same name are not a contradiction; they are two tables. See lesson 2.
- Changing what you type between checks. "Dr", initials and middle names all count when typed. "A. K. Verma" counts A and K only.
- Assuming relations are mutual. Row 2 lists 8 as opposing, but row 8 lists 2 as neither friendly nor opposing. So RAHUL (8) shows Opposing for Moolank 2, while a name number 2 shows Neutral for Moolank 8.
- Reading Opposing as a reason to change a name. The badge describes friction in the tradition. Nothing here recommends changing a name, and no spelling guarantees an outcome.
Where do numerologists disagree?
Indian practice favours Chaldean, so it is the site's default. Schools also differ on which name to use (official, everyday or professional) and on master numbers. This site applies one rule to both tables: a note only when the full total is exactly 11, 22 or 33.
